iPad Traffic on the Rise
July 7, 2010 - 7:53am — MPLS MarketingI took a look at our web analytics this morning and noticed that in the last couple months, the iPad came to life in the data. In fact it accounted 80% of all mobile traffic (with iPhone accounting for 19.5% and Android 0.5%).
Your Business on Tomorrow's TV
July 5, 2010 - 8:25am — MPLS MarketingWhat is the future of television and how does it affect your business? It all comes back to the iPhone.
A few months ago I saw an amazing new accessory for the iPhone; a diabetes tester that plugged into the 30 pin USB connector and an accompanying app to control it. That's the true genius of the iPhone. Is it a phone? A game machine? A web browser? A diabetes tester? It's all of these things, because it's just a screen. It's just a window into whatever app you have open. Apple told AT&T to let go of designing phones and focus on building infrastructure.
Making an SEO-Friendly Backlink
June 2, 2010 - 6:55am — MPLS MarketingGoogle's algorithms are both patented and even mysterious at times. One thing we do know is the importance of creating the right kind of backlinks.
What the heck's a backlink?
A backlink is merely a link somewhere on the Internet that points back to your website and they matter for at least two reasons. The first reason is that they bring you traffic. People see these links and click on them, ending up at your website. The second reason is that Google uses these links to learn about your website. Backlinks help determine where in search engines your website appears.
What the Mobile Wars Mean to You
May 24, 2010 - 7:06am — MPLS MarketingIf you've been paying attention to Google's developer conference, where the advertising giant took several shots across the bow at Apple, or the short and cryptic email response from Steve Jobs, you know that the mobile wars are upon us. Google is casting itself as the pure, well-intentioned open source leader. Apple, for its part, is keeping the iPhone OS platform on a steady, and closed, bearing.
So what does this mean for your business online?
Drupal in the Publishing World
April 19, 2010 - 5:49pm — MPLS MarketingReporting live from DrupalCon San Francisco...
Currently listening to an interesting discussion about TimeOut's adaptation of Drupal 6 and the cloud, completely replacing their existing .NET platform. Drupal seems to have done wonders for the magazine, helping them to dramatically reduce support and technology costs while providing them with a much more modern platform.
Of course, they are preaching to the choir!

Twitter in Real Time
April 19, 2010 - 11:57am — MPLS MarketingReporting to you live from DrupalCon 2010...
Just wrapped up a really interesting conference about managing projects, technology, and culture at Twitter, hosted by an engineer from the company. One thing that sparked my interest, given two recent projects we began work on, is Twitter's use of a content delivery network (CDN) to dramatically improve performance and scalability, while keeping costs in check.
Check back for more updates! And yes, we are cross-posting this to Twitter thanks to our websites' API integration.

Gearing up for DrupalCon
April 12, 2010 - 1:23pm — MPLS MarketingDrupalCon is upon us and we're proud to have MPLS in attendance. Joining me will be Drew, one of our project managers, and a trusty iPad to show off our projects, designs, and web applications. Oddly enough, Minneapolis has been 20 degrees warmer than San Francisco, so we won't be spending very much time on the beach.
We will report back with photos and posts from the convention throughout our trip next week, beginning on Monday the 19th.
